If you get the right litter they are basically smell free. They aren't like dogs were you need to bath them so their fur never smells. Also, some cats can be very very social if you introduce them to people young and don't have a dog that will harass it. Cats change all the time, they might seem very distant but can turn around and be extremely cuddly.
